What is HCG? The HCG Protocol was developed by Dr. A.T.W. How Does HCG Work? So how does HCG work and what does it do for those of us who aren’t pregnant. When used for weight loss, a tiny dose of HCG tells your hypothalamus to release and mobilize abnormal stored fat, but not vital structural fat. Instead of relying on new fuel, the calories you need come from stored fat released into the bloodstream.
